In this blog you will be looking at some interesting facts that you probably do not know about cheetahs. Cheetahs do not need to drink water because they get moisture from the bodies of their prey. The cheetah is often mistaken for a leopard. The cheetah has tear marks that protect their eyes from the sun. The tear marks are black marks that run from the corners of their eyes to their cheeks and mouth. A cheetah is the world's fastest land animal and is known for its extremely fast speed. Cheetahs can run over sixty miles per hour! While in a chase, the respiratory rate of a cheetah goes as high as 150 breaths per minute! Cheetahs are hunted a lot for their fur and sometimes they are killed by farmers who are trying to protect their livestock. “Female cheetahs typically have a litter of three cubs and live with them for one and a half to two years. Young cubs spend their first year learning from their mother and practicing hunting techniques with playful games”. Cheetahs are born with long gray fur. They are born with long manes on their neck and shoulders but they disappear when they grow older. Cheetah cubs weigh between 9 to 15 pounds when they are born. The main preys of cheetahs are small antelope, birds, hare, and warthogs. Cheetahs can also catch wildebeests and zebras if they are working together in a group. Cheetahs eat about 6 lbs of meat per day. All though it is very hard to be allowed to have a cheetah in your home, they are said to be one of the most interesting, fun, and loving pets anyone could have. These are some interesting facts about Cheetahs and I hope that your learned a lot of new information after reading this post.
